As an experienced Thai healing arts practitioner and licensed massage therapist, I'm a firm believer in a holistic approach to healing. Human beings are made up of mind, body, and energy. All three must be in balanced so that you have the best quality of life possible. Through a unique system of traditional Thai medicine and Thai massage that's designed to work with nearly any health condition, I'll work hard to improve your health and wellness.
Joanie Flavin, Yoga Teacher & Thai Yoga Practitioner
I have gratefully made my life's work in the field of yoga and wellness for 21 years. I am endlessly inspired by the healing potential of the work and always continue to educate myself. I have extensive knowledge of movement and yoga application for injury and imbalance. My training in Thai Yoga therapy and somatic movement allows me to work with clients to treat injuries but to prevent them as well!
THAI MASSAGE, DEEP TISSUE, & FOOT MASSAGE
Traditional Thai massage incorporates acupressure, joint mobilization, and gentle stretching. It's quite different from massage styles that are more common in America. The client wears loose-fitting or sport style clothing and the massage is received on a thick floor mat. The therapist uses hands, elbows, knees, and even feet to apply the massage techniques. Each session helps open up the body and create better flow relieving all sorts of ailments that come from lack of movement, stress, and poor posture.
Deep tissue or therapeutic massage is what you'd most commonly see in many massage studios and we also offer as well. The client is on a massage table and modestly draped with a sheet. Massage lotion is used to apply techniques to relax muscle tissue and ease pain and soreness. Each session is customized to help you with your personal health goals.
Foot massage is a treatment that is mostly to ease tired and sore feet. It definitely has a much greater impact on the whole body though. By stimulating thousands of nerve endings in the feet, it can create a positive response in the central nervous system to de-stress and restore balance. This can make you feel more rested and less tense.
YOGA THERAPY, THAI YOGA, & PRIVATE ONE-ON-ONE YOGA SESSIONS
Yoga Therapy is a healing technique based on the principle of free and uninterrupted energy flow and helps activate the natural healing processes in your body as well as restore physical and emotional well-being. This's an excellent therapy for reducing stress, tension, and emotional imbalance.
Thai Yoga is an ancient art that uses movement and therapies to relieve tension and stress in the body. By applying gentle, rhythmic stretches the natural flow of your body will be restored. Pain and stiffness can be alleviated in just one session.
Private Yoga Sessions are one-on-one classes that will help you address any health issues or restrictions that you may have. Receiving private sessions can help you understand what types of stretches and techniques are best for your body. It can also prepare you to have more confidence in attending group classes without risking injury.
